Does an employee have any rights if they are suspended and sent home by HR pending an investigation but they are not given any information on what the investigation is for?

This is in an at will state and the employee is in a full-time salaried position. They were told to return 12 days later.

Unless this action violates the terms of an employment contract or collective bargaining agreement, it is legal. Most work relationships are "at will". This means that a company can set the conditions of employment much as it sees fit (absent some form of legally actionable discrimination). Bottom line, you need not be given any information regarding the reason for your suspension.
