If I understand your question correctly, you have your own insurance policy. Therefore, the concern really should be if your insurance carrier finds out that there is a driver in the household with a DUI. Normally, insurance carriers will ask you “are there any other licensed driver in the household” when applying for an auto policy. This is so underwriting can account for any driver (and their driving record) that may possibly drive your car. Living with a driver that has a DUI could affect your insurance. Your insurance company could ask you to sign a form stating that you will not let your boyfriend drive your car, essential releasing them of any liability in the event he has an accident in your vehicle. But putting you on his policy will not affect your policy. If you are thinking of adding yourself on his policy and canceling your policy to save money, this would not be advisable. It will probably drive up the cost of your individual coverage and you probably will end up paying more being on his than if you had remained on your policy alone. Consider getting a quote on your both auto policies. You may be pleasantly surprise by saving money on both policies!
