When involved in an auto accident with people in both cars, it is a good idea to report the incident to your agent or company for information only. This is recommended since the other party can come back later and claim injuries. They can also present the claim differently than how it happened in an attempt to collect from the other party. This can happen even if there is no damage to either car.The owner of the car being driven by your friend is the one who needs to report the incident now, since the other party has filed the claim. Insurance follows the car, not the driver, so the owner of the car is responsible. Your friend will need to speak with the adjuster to explain his side of the story and to assist the owner in getting the claim resolved in his favor. The other party may have simply reported the claim as information only, in the event your friend, or the owner of the car were to file a claim against him. I would simply let the insurance companies handle it if it goes forward.
