I am so sorry for your loss.  I know that you would like a definitive answer like two weeks to one month, but really "soon" is the best possible answer.  Once the final accounting has been accepted by the Surrogate's Court in the probate of the estate the funds can be distributed.  It is the last step.  I would wait just a few weeks before inquiring as to when you should expect the distribution.  You have every right to ask.  Good luck.
