What to do if I purchased a used car that was subject to a recall?

My car was involved in an accident that totaled the car. The accident is the result of a possible steering problem. Information received from my insurance company shows that the car was recalled for steering problems and that the car had been involved in 2 front end accidents 5 years ago. The dealer never informed of the recall or the accidents. What are my legal rights? I have a car payment and no car.

Please go and speak with an attorney in your area.  There could be many claims here against the dealer but I am concerned about a few things.  First, there may be statute of limitation issues to the matter under Federal Law but if there was misrepresntation that is a State claim and the statute may not be an issue.  There could also be product liability claim against the manufacturer but the facts are going to matter.  PLease go and speak with some one.  Good luck.
