What to do about car insurance if my 17 son just got his driver’s licence?
My insurance agent has told me that its not necessary to let them know of another driver unless the actual insurance company calls at random and as if you have any other drivers. I’m a real estate owner and I am afraid that if he gets into an accident they would come after me. Now I don’t know if I should just get a policy for him and get a car in his name only or buy a car in my name and let him drive it. If you can help with this it would be a load of my shoulders.

If you son lives with you (or visits with you often or regularly, if he lives elsewhere) and has access to your car when there, if you don't add him as a driver, you may be denied coverage if he is in an accident, since you will have breached your obligation to inform the insurer of all drivers. You will likely have to add him and pay more for him, but you certainly must notify the insurer of him. You may wish to get a new insurance agent: that was not good advice and could expose you to liability.
