What are my rights regarding a damaged rental car?
My husband rented a car at the airport 10 months ago. He signed an accident report for little crack on the bumper even though he did not cause the damage. We did not receive anything from the rental company for the cost of damage but we did receive a letter from the collection agency last month for $490 damage. Is it legal for the rental company to send this claim to collection agency without sending any information to the customer?

Yes, this is perfectly legal. There is no law requiring someone, including a business, who thinks another owes them to correspnd with or try to work it out with the other side. Instead, they can send it straight to collections--or immediately file a lawsuit against you without any prior contact.
