Should my friend get an attorney if he was recently caught with an eighth of cocaine, roughly a sheet 100 hits of 25c-NBOME, and roughly a prescription of a prescription drug that wasn’t his?

I understand that his sentencing has many variables, such as the lawyers and the judge, but I was wondering if there is a minimum amount of jail time, and if someone could give a predicted amount of time he might spend? He was already on probation for a small amount of weed, so this was his second offense.

Yes, he should definitely have legal counsel. These are serious charges that he is facing. Possibly an experienced defense attorney can get the charges thrown out on a technicality, have them reduced or, if necessary, win an acquittal at trial.
As for how much time he is facing if convicted of all charges, it is hard to say. As you yourself state, it will depend on the effectivenss of his counsel, as well as just who the presiding judge is.
