Unless your father has made an intent to abandon the items left behind on your property or has given them to you, he is entitled to their return even after the passage of more than two (2) years. Potentially you could charge him a reasonable monthly rental for the items.
If you used the items when he was away, then you received their use without having to pay for them. I suggest that if your father wants his belongings that you simply give them back to him.
