Generally speaking, your immigration status - whatever that immigration status may be - can be effected at any time when you have been involved in the commission of a crime.  It is true that your status is a very different type and comes with it an essence of formation of the fundamental principles of the United States, but that does not mean you can completely disregard the laws of this country.  I would seek help here from a criminal defense attorney and an immigration attorney as to what the possible ramifications of your actions may be.  It is not something that you should take lightly and you should get your help as quickly as you can.
