What to do if I interviewed for a full-time position and a week later I was accepted but did not know that I had to send back my acceptance within 24 hours?.

I talked on the phone with the general manager and human resource stating they will send me an acceptance e-mail plus documents. I received the e-mail and followed directly as it said. Today I received a phone call from the general manager telling me that he is canceling my acceptance because I failed to send back a confirming acceptance letter within 24 hours. I was not told over the e-mail or phone call between the general manager or human resources that I had to confirm the acceptance through e-mail since I spoke with the general manager about the position and accepted it verbally. Is there any way I can appeal his actions considering this was not my fault?

It doesn't matter whether this was your fault or not, unfortunately there is no right to employment or to be hired, and all employment is unless you had already signed an employment contract employment at will, which means, among other things, that the employer may freely decide who to hire, change its mind about hiring, rescind an offer, and/or hire someone and instantly as they are walking in the door fire them, all without notice and for any reason at all. As unfair as this is, they have the right to do this.
