If I’m 19 years old and committed retail fraud, what is going to happen and should I hire a lawyer or get a court appointed one?
While there I also purchased items along with stealing items worth only about $11. This would be my first and only offense. I’m on the deans list in college and have done some volunteering since then and have been looking for more. They told me that I have a misdemeanor.

You would be wise to hire experienced legal counsel.
A theft offense cam ne very serious. While any theft under $500 is a misdemeanor, it is still punishable by up to 90 days in jail and a $1000 fine under minnesota law.
