In most cases, you do not need an attorney to get your criminal arrest or charge record expunged in Tennessee. In most counties, the process is fairly simple. However, not much information exists on the internet or in local libraries about the expungement process in Tennessee. Your first option can be talking to the clerk of the court where you were convicted. If this does not yield enough useful information for your expungement, you should seek the services of an experienced Tennessee criminal attorney.

Additionally, if you are at all unclear on who to contact to get the forms you need, or if you are unclear as to the actual terms of the expungement or requirements for it (such as the probationary restrictions or special issues for juvenile applicants), then you should at least seek out a consultation with an attorney who specializes in criminal record history expungement. Many of these initial consultations are free or can be offered at a reduced cost. Considering your expungement can cost up to $100, getting this consultation is well worth it.

Most importantly, please remember two things about costs: #1 ‘ Many attorneys’ fees are negotiable, and/or they work on a contingent fee basis, which means that they will get zero dollars unless and until you win. #2 ‘ Having a criminal record can profoundly impact your life. Having that same criminal record cleared from the public recordwill impact you just as profoundly if not more so. These are complicated and stressful times for everyone, and while there are no guarantees of success, with an attorney there are no guarantees of failure either: think about what your life would be like if that old criminal record weighing heavily on you simply disappeared’.not only that, what would life be like if the record never even existed? Speak to a qualified expungement attorney as soon as possible to consider all the options for your case.
