In AL, when a disciplinary document is placed in an employee's personnel file, their employer must supply a copy of the documentation to the employee no later than 10 days after its inclusion in the file. However, this pertains to public employers/employees only.

For all other employees in the state, they do not have the right to see their personeel file. If they are union members they have more rights. Additionally, their employment contract (if they have one) may state that they have the right to review their file.
