I have a long term care policy and the premiums went up over 36%. No need for this. Will go to another company no matter the cost.

had a doctor exam on 4/23/08 and it took until August 28th to have the bill taken care of. Originally they said that the doctor was out of network, which he wasn’t, he was in network and because of a cerical error and the appeal process, it took me numerous hours and phone calls to take care of this. Customer Service is vvvvvery poorrr.

Refused to pay claims on death of husband who was fully covered and paid premiums – refused all claims without any justification and there is no where to go to dispute this corporate greed giant

Excellent personal customer service. Provider had made mistakes and BCBSMN worked through getting them fixed. Overall excellent company to work with.

Of the dozen or so employer-sponsored health insurers I’ve had, none has come close to matching the incompetence I’ve experienced with BC/BS of Minnesota.
BC/BS is the he carrier of a self-insured plan through my wife’s employer and they have made serious errors with all of my claims filed with them.
To my chagrin, after giving my primary health carriers’ information to them on at least three occasions, they consistently paid in error as primary insurer.
This is NOT an company to choose as administrator of a self-insured plan.

they have always been helpful to us and quick to pay claims, when you call with questions they seem to go the extra mile to find the answer.

The company is very inefficient and ineffective at cost management. They will hassle you into changing to a generic drug to save a few hundred dollars a year, but will not help you find a lower cost provider for treatments where the savings could be tens of thousabds of dollars. They just raise rates instead.

Company does a poor job of giving accurate info to providers. Paid zero on our claims since we purchased our policy almost 11 months ago. Back and forth with paper work for months. Had to fight with representative just to get them to contact provider.

Startup and end of policy has been problematic. On the application of the policy I apparently had a severe heart ailment. The cause – a data entry error. Ending the policy due to insurance provided by a new employer has also been problematic. The policy was cancelled after I sent two cancellation notices and had the state contact them. BCBS-MN has so far FAILED to send a HIPAA letter. Yet another reason why I will REFUSE to do further business in Minnesota.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota – the worst possible insurance in the world

I canceled my policy I have one with another company. It didn’t get canceled and my pharmacy ran it through BC which sent several bills to my late husband for 3.84 so I sent them the 2 that I should have paid and explained it and still got a bill for 3.84. I was told when I called them that if I didn’t pay them the remaining 1.59 it would go to collections. What kind of idiot bully company threatens people and forces them to pay money they shouldn’t have had to pay and wastes more money trying to collect a bill than the bill is worth?

I paid about 250 extra dollars per month to get the best of what BCBS has to offer. I had my baby a couple of months after we got the insurance and out of the 9000 hospital bill we were stuck with 5000 of it. When I had aetna and cigna I paid all of 150 dollars. and I didnt even have to pay this much for the insurance up front. All I have to say is this insurance really does a diservice to the people that actually pay for it. BCBC should really stop existing and stop making false promises to people about covering their bills. OH and by the way my deductible was 1500. thank you so much for your great service.

When other insurance companies consider your medication as non specialty they consider it a specialty medication and make you go through a mail pharmacy. Then they take an additional 7 to 10 to process a prior authorization. Even when marked urgent and after a dr. Office faxed a prior auth 4 times and talked to the prior auth dept. The issue still wasnt solved and i still do not have my medications and am in the middle of a cycle of fertilty treatments. Which the prescriptions are covered under our plan. I am not impressed and will not EVER choose this company again. Needless to say we are canceling through my husbands job and taking insurance even though the out of pocket cost is higher its not worth dealing with this company. Bad deal and shame on you blue cross blue shield and im reporting you to the BBB also.

They covered a pre-approved treatment in January and when the treatment was repeated 6 months later with prior approval the exact treatment they denied a portion of the treatment and called it investigative. In-network doctor pre-approvals and they pay in January and deny 6 months later???????? What more could I have done?

Last year thru my employer I got Aware Gold plan with Zero deducible. Cost me 260/ month for just me. Yes it had copays. But if I became an inpatient I wouldn’t have seen a bill. Just found out that I cant get that plan anymore. Now I have to pay 200 admittance fee for inpatient along with 10% of the total bill. Representative from BCBS told us this is the best plan they offer. The changes are an effect from Obama Care.I don’t believe that. Its just a knee-jerk reaction from BCBS because the new laws require them to provide for per-existing take away lifetime limits. BCBS has only one interest TO MAKE AS MUCH AS THEY CAN.A business that is there to help people should be non-profit. Medical insurance is a quality of life issue. Not a profit issue. Nothing we can do. Hopefully something better will come along and force this company to put people before profits. But I doubt it.

THEE WORST OF THE WORST I have this POS health ins through my husbands employer 3M, and not only have the rates gone up tremendously, but they deny EVERYTHING And then when they do decide to pay for something, a year later you will get a bill stating that they are taking back the portion they covered and will give a BS excuse as to why they are denying the claim. THEY SUCK

The claim process is terrible Blue Cross denies claims for no valid reason and refuses an appeal because the claim amount is less than 500. I ended up paying cash to my doctor because Blue Cross wouldn’t pay. Why have insurance

Refused to pay for emergency surgery until 6 months later after tremendous effort on our part. Horrible customer service. This company does not care about your wellness or illness. Keep shopping as you will be miserable with this plan if you become sick or injured.

Have BCBS of MN for health insurance. Had a procedure done in Dec 2017. Met my in-network deductible. The orthopedic physician and the the hospital where the surgery took place both received in-network approval from a BCBS of MN representative. Calls were recorded. When my bill came I was charged 17,600 for an out-of-network deductible and increased % of the total bill. The in-network out-of-pocket would have been 3,000. I appealed and was denied. After the fact and post surgery, BCBS of MN told me that my procedure would have been covered in-network under the Blue Distinction Network another provider. BCBS of MN never communicated an out-of-network situation to me, the provider andor the hospital. What a fraud, scam, and complete lack of communication. Extremely disappointing Buyer beware.

Worth customer service I ever had. Never call you back. Almost always completing claims incorrectly

BCBS sucks, it seems their business practice is to stall and delay payment of claims as long as possible, while giving a myriad of excuses for not paying. They should be investigated.
