Insurance Question from Deerfield Beach, FL

Asked on 11/18/2016

my daughter has insurence on a auto we both own are we both covered in case of an accident its her insurance but we are both on the title

Answer given on November 22, 2016

If you and your daughter co-own a vehicle, then you should both be listed as the named insured on the auto policy. This will protect you both in the event of an accident. . The rates will be based on your daughter’s driving record, since she is the primary driver of the car. You will still be covered if you drive her car. Your driving record should not affect the cost of the policy, especially if you have a separate policy for your own car(s) Other drivers should also be covered if they use the car, but check with your agent or insurance company to be sure. Some policies are a “listed driver” policy which only covers the drivers listed on the policy. You need to be sure you know who will be covered in the car in the event of an accident.
