Would scenario constitutes declining valid employment?
My husband was offered a job earning a base salary of less than half his previous job plus commission. He went to training and attempted the job for about a week, but the nature of the business made sales very difficult to achieve. He decided to decline the position but was paid for the time he did put in. He will claim this to unemployment. Does this constitute as declining employment and therefore void his future unemployment claims?

It could void his future unemployment claims but he needs to review all of the material and rules provided by the state's division of unemployment compensation to confirm. While he attempted employment, unemployment insurance is to only cover the person during the time period he is not working; it does not guarantee that he can be on it until he finds a salary at the same rate. He needs to explain to his unemployment counselor what occurred and why he could no longer keep that position (despite having a base salary).
