Under the laws of all states in this country unless you sold a business to a person the non-compete clause that you have written about presumably with your employer is invalid as a matter of law as being in violation of public policy. Meaning, if you signed a non-compete alcuse with your former employer where you received nothing of value for the non-compete, such is not enforceable.

I suggest that you consult with a labor law attorney and/or a representative with your local department of labor about the matter you have written about for further guidance.
