I think you need to get to an attorney as soon as possible, to take control of this situation. Probate law and procedure differs from one state to another, and I'm not a California lawyer. Ordinarily, in a case like this in most states, you would want to get letters of administration, that made you the personal representative of your father's estate, and follow that up with a procedure to make the girl friend produce the will or forget about it.
