Yes, it can. You must report the inheritance to the SSI program within 10 days after the last day of the month in which you receive the inheritance. If you are single you can not have assets of more than $2000. More than that will negatively impact your benefits as it is considered income. The establishment of a Special Needs Trust is what is needed. Good luck.
