Why would an attorney file a Motion for Entry of Agreed QDRO, instead of having the judge just sign the QDRO court order?

Why would an attorney file a Motion for Entry of Agreed QDRO, instead of having the judge just sign the QDRO court order?

17 years after our divorce degree, my ex-wife asked me to sign a QDRO. I did not want to sign and felt that the statue of limitations had run for her filing of the QDRO. Relutanctly I signed and I thought the judge would just sign the court order. I just received the Motion for Entry of Agreed QDRO my ex-wife’s attorney filed with the court, with the QDRO Order attached. Why would her attorney file the Motion instead of just going to the court and having the judge sign the Order? This Motion was filed 5 weeks after I signed the QDRO. Do you think the judge refused to sign the Order, for being too late?
