Who is responsible for retaining a lawyer to probate a Will?

My mother was named in my grandmother’s Will as executor. My stepgrandfather made arrangements to meet with a lawyer. What if this is not the lawyer we want to use?

I am so sorry for your loss.  Generally speaking, the Executor has the right to choose the attorney to help with the probate of the Will.  So your Mother - and no one else - should make that decision.  Good luck.
