If an auto lease agreement lists both a husband and wife as leasees, must both sign the agreement?

In order for it to be legal when notarized both of us must sign the agreement? We file out taxes separately.

If two spouses are leasing an automobile in order for the lease to be binding upon each of the spouses, both must sign the document to be obligated under it. Meaning, if only the husband signs the lease and the car is then presented to him, then only the husband would be obligated under the lease personally since the wife did not sign the document.

Most states do not require written contracts to be notarized. However notarizing the signtaures of of the people who sign the contract is a good practice to prevent any claims down the road that the sigatures on the document are not those of the people allegedly signing the document.

In all likelihood the car company will not provide possession of the desired auto until both the husband and wife have signed the written lease agreement.
