SNT refers to a "Special Needs Trust". It is a Trust that will preserve the designated beneficiary’s eligibility for needs-based government benefits (e.g. Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income). Since the beneficiary does not own the assets in the trust, they can remain eligible for benefit programs that have an asset limit.
