What can I do if my current supervisor provided negative comments about me and my job performance which led to a prospective employer losing interest in me?

If the current supervisor made untrue factual statements about you whch damaged your reputation (e.g. accused you of excessive absenteeism, when that is not the case), that may be defamation, and you may have a legal claim. (If you think this is the case, consult with a personal injury attorney.)

However, if the supervisor either stated true things about you, or else stated an opinion (e.g., "I think John/Jane Doe is a bad worker"), there is probably nothing you can do about it. There is no right to get a good recommendation, and the law does not make it illegal to state true facts or opinions.
