What would happen if I don’t show up for hearing date?

I am late on rent. I am now out of the country. I am willing to pay the back rent. I wonder what happened if I don’t go to the court hearing day? Must I go since I know that I am guilty in this case? What should I do?

If you don't show up at the hearing, most likely, the judge will rule against you in the case.

You may be able to participate in the hearing by telephone since you are out of the country.  The court clerk can tell you whether or not you can make a telephone appearance.  There will be court forms to file requesting a telephone appearance, and if you miss the deadline for filing those forms, your request for a telephone appearance will be denied.  The court clerk can provide you with the information on procedures for requesting a telephone appearance and the filing deadline as these items vary from one court to another.
