What would be the difference between a motions hearing/status/scheduling conference and just a status and scheduling conference?

In the first one, the court will hear and consider any motions made by the parties. In the second one, the court will only be concerned with how the action is proceeding and what schedules to make for the remainder of the action (i.e. discovery dates, trial date). Many courts do not consider motions in status/scheduling conferences.
