What grounds for compensation do I have if I fell and injured my knee due to the negligence ofproperty maintenance at my place of employment?

As I was leaving work and my foot got caught on a sprinkler head that was supposed to be recessed in the ground but was not (it was out of the ground approx 3 inches). The sprinkler was next to the common sidewalk. My foot caught under the sprinkler head and I went down hard on my knee and elbow. I am now having problems with that knee. The property management has since recessed that head but I have photos to prove it wasn’t when I fell. I have lost time from work for doctor appointments and may need surgery on the knee.

Although you were leaving work when you were injured, since your injury occurred at your place of employment, you can file for workers' compensation.  Your workplace HR department will have the necessary documents and can help you file your workers' compensation claim.
