You should consult an employment attorney about the individual facts of the case. If the number is truly invalid you have an obligation to report it to the Social Security Administration. Make sure, however, that it is actually invalid. Double check the numbers with the employee, etc. An employee can not work with out a valid SS#. You know that. Good luck.
