What to do if we hired a company to do the electric on an addition to our home,but hen the job was complete the bill was more than the quote?
The company keeps sending the bill; we have refused to pay because the quote said it would be up to code. They say we had extras to bring it up to code but nothing was ever said about the extras during the work.

Much depends on what exactly the quote said. If it indicated that the price was fixed or firm and that there would be no increases--i.e. that was what you would be charged--then you could enforce that so long as you did not cause any cost overruns (e.g. with change orders). On the other hand, if it was the typical "good faith" estimate and there were increases legitimately required by conditions or problems which could not have been anticipated at the time of the quote (e.g. on opening up the walls, it was discoved that some existing wiring or junction boxes were not up to current code and legally had to be replaced), then those additional costs would be legal.
