If we had a house fire and hired a general contractor to repair the house but he’s not paying the subcontractors, what can I do?

His contract estimates 6 to 8 weeks and we are now in month 5 with less than 50% of the work completed. Now I found out he’s not paying subcontractors and nothing is being worked on at my house.

I suggest that you consult with an attorney that practices in the area of consttruction law for assistance. I suggest that from there discussions be had as to terminating the general contract for breach of the contract for delay and not paying subcontractors and retaining a more reliable general contractor. If a claims representative is involved for your insurance carrier, please advise him or her of the situation as well.
