The United States recognizes marriages outside the continental United States that were valid in the place they were held. So if you were married legally in the USVI you are good. Now that you reside in Florida you are going to have to meet their residency requirements for filing for a divorce: you must have resdied there for at least 6 months before filing. Call your local bar association and ask if they ahve a referral service. Go and pay for an initial consultation with the attorney so that he or she can explain the procedures and next step.
