What to do if we are a auto repair shop and have 3 repaired vehicles that a customer has never picked up?

The customer was notified that the work was done but they never came to collect them. We notified the customer several times that we were going to be moving to a new location and we brought the vehicles with us and started storage fees. It has now been 2 1/2 years and we would like to know how we would go about obtaining titles so that we may either register or sell them.

A mechanic's lien can be established against a vehicle by a repair or storage facility after the vehicle's owner fails to pay the repair or storage fee and leaves the vehicle in the custody of the facility for an extended period of time.  After taking the required actions to establish a mechanic's lien, the repair or storage facility can then sell the vehicle at a public auction in order to recoup the monies owed by the vehicle's owner.

If you are the owner or representative of a repair or storage facility that wishes to establish a mechanic's lien against a vehicle left in your custody for resale, contact an attorney in your locality that can assist you. One can be found on attorneypages.com.
