Warrant Question

I recently had a court date for shoplifting that I did not go to about a month ago. I would assume that there is a warrant for my arrest at this point. I have a court date tomorrow in civil court for an eviction matter. Will I get arrested at civil court? Do they check for warrants even though this

isn’t a criminal matter?

As a general rule, such a check is not made as it is not part of a civil proceeding. That hving been said, a particular clerk, etc. could choose to run such a search. So while unlikely, it is possible.

It's impossible to say they will *never* check, because you could get that one particular clerk or sheriff's officer who does, but I practice extensively in New Jersey and have never seen this happen. It is not part of the civil court procedure to check, and it is very unlikely that they will.
