If the executor of my father’s estate passed away, who is next in line?

I am the oldest child of two.

I am so sorry for your losses.  In may states a spouse is the one who has priority in becoming the fiduciary of the estate but generally any one who has a connection to the decedent can request appointment by the court.  Be aware that other parties can object and also apply. Good luck.
