I got terminated after 6 years of employment; I was a permanent employee. The letter stated a specific reason for my termination; it was due to attendance and punctuality. I was asked to leave immediately after given my letter without notice.

Unless you had an employment contract or union agreement that provided otherwise, your termination was legal. The fact is that in an "at will" work relationship an employee can be discharged for any reason or no reason at all, with or without notice. Basically, a company can set the conditions of the workplace much as it sees fit, absent some form of legally actionable discrimination.
