What to do if when starting a new job, I answered a fax that I thought was for free advertizing without reading the fine print stating that it was a contract for 2 years?

it is for $99 a month. I signed it and verified the company information. About a month later I got the first bill and called them to cancel but they said to fax the cancellation. They then said it was too late; the ad had already been posted on line and I was stuck. Our entire advertizing budget for a year is $500. The company is out of India but they have an American office in Washington. What can I do before I get fired?

There is no way to get out of a contract on the grounds that you did not read the fine print; it is your obligation to read the fine print. You may need to explain the mistake to your company and offer to pay the cost yourself--especially since if the company believes you exceeded your authority in doing this, they may be able to sue you for the cost, anyway.
