You do not have to appear at the police station. In fact, you do not have to speak with them at all, even if they come to your home. The fact is that no matter how innocent you may be, the police are trained interrogators and they could have you inadvertently say something incriminating about yourself or someone else regarding the incident being investigated. Whatever you do, under no circumstances should you go to speak with the police without having an attorney with you. At this point you need to consult a local criminal defense attorney.
