Do you have an employment contract or union agreement that prohibits this action? If not, then you are an "at will" worker, so your company can set the conditions of work much as it sees fit (absent some form of legally actionable discrimination). If you do not comply with this request, you can be terminated, suspended or otherwise disciplined.
