Received a text saying quit or be fired from manager, is this illegal?

I work and reside in Escanaba, MI. I
received a text message while I was out
today from my manager, essentially
telling me to quit or be fired. I have
yet to respond other than to question
her as to why she sent it. New Link Destination
which her
answer was ‘because I can’ essentially.
Is this illegal?

It is unfair and unprofessional but completely legal, unless you have a written employment for a definite term (such as a one-year contract) which has not yet expired, in which case you cannot be terminated in any way which violates the contract. Otherwise, without such a contract, you are an "employee at will" and may be terminated at any time, for any reason--even unfair or bad ones--without any notice or chance to defend yourself. This means you could simply be fired; or your employer could legally tell you that if you won't quit, then you will be fired. Without an employment contract, you have essentially no rights at work.
