I gave my recently bought car back to the finance company due to financial issues.
Also that I was to buy her car. Do I have any rights?

Unfortunately, you do not have any rights in the situation you describe: a promise like you describe "dies" with the promissor and is not enforceable against the heirs or the estate. That it put you  in a bad position is unfortunate, as is your loss (and please accept our condolences), but you will not be able to force her children to honor this promise.
