What to do if our lease expired on the home we were renting but we never got our security deposit back?

Our lease expired about 5 weeks ago. As of today, we have yet to get back all or part of our $2500 security deposit. I have contacted the property management company last week. They told me the homeowner was still documenting damages and would send us a list of damages. However, nothing has arrived in the mail. At this point, can she still deduct from the $2500 deposit if it is after the 30 days?

Based upon what you have written, I would write the property management company demanding the return of your $2,500 security deposit in that thirty (30) plus days have elapsed since your move up. Keep a copy of the letter for future use and need. If you do not receive the $2,500 by a date set forth in your demand letter, small claims court is your option.
