Non-payment of invoice
We were contracted by BBDO Detroit to write a web based training course for them. They contracted with TEAM in California (a payroll company) to pay us for work completed. BBDO and TEAM had a falling out and now I can’t get paid on my last invoice. Several other independent freelance contractors are also having the same problem. What can I do? Thank you

Depending on exactly what your contract with the firm that hired you says, you probably can sue the firm that hired you. Read the contract, as it may limit the location where suit may be brought or specify procedures or provide for arbitration only.
As BBDO is a national company and probably does business in your state, unless the contract provides that suit can be brought in only one jurisdiction or you must resort to arbitration, you probably have jurisdiction in your state, and may even be able to use small claims court.
