What are my rights if to a paycheck for timed worked?

I worked for a construction company. The first week I got paid with just a few issues but continued to work

12 hour days, 5 days a week. My boss had communicated that we would be getting paid that Friday night. However, we weren’t. Over the next few days I was unable to make contact. Yesterday he sent me an email stating I need to get familiar with wage laws.

You have the right to be paid for all work done, at the agreed upon rate, wage, or salary; if hourly, to be paid for *all* hours worked; and if hourly, if you work more than 40 hours in a week, to receive overtime for all hours over or past 40. If you are not being paid for your work, try contacting your state department of labor--they may be able to help you get paid. If they don't, you could sue (e.g. in small claims court, as your attorney or "pro se") for the money.
