What to do if my wife accepted a fake credit card at work and the customer charged over $700 and now her employer is now holding her responsible for the loss?
This new company policy was never explained to my wife or given to her in writing. Is this legal for the employer?

Unless your wife knew that this credit card was a fake and/or was involved in some conspiracy to defraud her employer she is not responsible for any part of the $700. What the employer is doing by holding her responsible for the loss is illegal under the laws of all states in this country.
She should consult with an employment attorney and/or make a complaint with the local department of labor about the matter.
