What can we do if my stepson wants to come live with his dad and myself?

My stepson is 17 and his mom has legal and physical custody. He has been expressing a desire to leave his mom’s house because he is scared to lived there; a drug dealer lives next door. He has a rocky relationship with his stepfather and it has become physical at times.

If your stepson wishes to reside with you then if the biological mother refuses to allow such then the legal recourse is for your father to consult with a family law attorney to file a petition seeking a change in living residence of the minor. From what you have written about, a move for the minor may be in his best interests.
