What to do if my son has court date but the court appointed lawyer wants off his case?
Lawyer told judge he wanted out because he did not want to continue as public defender. Told son the same. He has done little on son’s behalf. Can proceedings be delayed?

The proceedings can be delayed. The judge has the discretion to grant a continuance to provide time for another attorney to be appointed to represent your son.
