If my husband and I are separated, do Ihave the right to askhim to keep his girlfriend away from our children?

He wants to take our kids around his new girlfriend and our son can’t stand her. He keeps saying that she is mean to him.

If this person has actually posed some threat to your child--she has threatened or struck him; she engages in drug use or other illegal behavior around him--then you may be able to get a protective order against her. Or if you actually divorce, and in the divorce settlement/custody agreement, can get something written in either barring this specific person from contact with your son or giving you some  more general veto or control over your then-ex-husband's abilityt to expose him to significant others (though it's unlikely he'd voluntarily agree to this), you could enforce that. However, if it's simply that your son doesn't like this woman, or that she is "mean" to him, then unfortunately no--you would have no power to exclude her.
