I am so sorry for the situation.    Here is the thing: if your grandparents held their assets jointly - money, house, car, etc. - then those assets went to your Grandfather automatically at the time of your grandmother's death.  There may have been no asset of her own to probate.  And if there were assets held alone they would pass either via Will - which he claims there is none - or intestacy statute.  If no estate was filed then I would guess everything passed via joint tenancy. If a Will or probate proceeding was filed it was filed in the county in which she resided at the time of her death.  It is a public record. Good luck.
