If the police want me to take a polygraph test, what should I do?

My friend’s house was robbed while he was away while I was watching it. I called the police when I discovered the brake-in. I have a past criminal record and now the police are trying to push it on me and make me take a polygraph.

Under no circumstances take this test at least not without first consulting with a lawyer. You should not even speak with the police until you do. The fact is that you are under no obligation to do so, even if they come to your house. They are experts at getting people to incriminate themselves in such cases, either through outright intimidation of a suspect or, conversely, pretending to befriend them. Again, you need to consult with a criminal law attorney ASAP.
